In Auto Racing, the Green Flag means that the race has started, end of hazard, safe racing conditions, or race restarting under caution. In NASCAR, the flag is used for all those reasons listed above while IndyCar and FIA-sanctioned championships do not use the race restarting under caution rule.

Note: If the lights on the track are out of action, green flag is missing, or under any sort of traditional rule (like the 24 Hours of Le Mans which uses the France national flag to start the race), then that country's national flag is used to start the race.

In iRacing, the flag also means all those reasons listed above.

NASCAR, IndyCar, & FIA-sanctioned championships: Race has started, end of hazard, safe racing conditions.

NASCAR Only: Race Restarting Under Caution.

iRacing: Race has started, end of hazard, safe racing conditions, or race restarting under caution.
