Biography:[edit | edit source]

Bussa was born in 1994 in Arlington Heights, Illinois to parents Frank and Diane. He is a big Chicago Blackhawks fan. He is an only child in the family. Bussa began kart racing at an early age, after catching the eye of a national karting champion, Phil Gordon, in 2005. Over the next decade Bussa achieved considerable success on the go-kart racing circuit, earning eight series championships and three track championships. In 2013, he graduated from high school and had to put his racing on hold. After attending Bradley University for the next four years, Bussa earned a degree in Management Information Systems. This helped him secure a job at KAR Auction Services as a Data Analyst, which is his current occupation. A long time NASCAR fan, Bussa became a fan of Dale Earnhardt after seeing his first race on TV at Bristol in 1999. Upon Earnhardt's tragic passing in 2001, Bussa then became a massive Kevin Harvick fan and continues to root for him every race.

Matt Bussa made his debut in the World Championship at Daytona. His best finish of the season would come in the first race where he crossed the line in 4th place. Starting towards the back of the field for most of the season, Bussa had a rather quiet first year in the series with 2 top 5's and 5 top 10's. The effort was good enough for 12th place in the final standings. His strongest race of the season came at Kansas Speedway where he qualified 2nd and scored his 2nd career top 5 finish in a wild race.
